Yesterday, four brave members of the Uniontown Firefighters Association took an exhilarating dip into the icy waters of Portage Lakes, joining approximately 900 other courageous souls in a chilly charity plunge. Adding to the excitement, participants even reported a sighting of a polar bear mascot cheering them on!

This spirited event was not just about braving the cold but also about supporting a noble cause. The plunge aimed to raise funds for the Akron Canton Food Bank, and it successfully set a new record for participation and donations, making it a landmark year for the charity.

Our team thoroughly enjoyed the experience and has resolved to make this charitable plunge an annual tradition. We are hopeful that this event will continue to grow in numbers and impact, fostering community spirit and raising even more funds for vital causes in the years to come.

The dedication of our members to engage in such fun yet meaningful community activities reflects the spirit of camaraderie and public service that defines the Uniontown Fire Department. We look forward to next year’s plunge with great anticipation, ready to dive back in for a good cause!
